Moldova: renovated water and sewerage system inaugurated in Calarasi

A new project to modernise and extend the water and sewerage system was inaugurated today, 8 December, in the city of Călărași in the Republic of Moldova.

In addition to the rehabilitation and extension of the water and sewerage network, 875 new drinking water connections and 234 new sewerage connections were made. As a result, more than 16,500 city residents are benefiting from improved water and sewerage services. The total value of the project is about €1.5 million, of which about €1.4 million was provided in a grant from the European Union, and about €174,000 contributed by  local authorities.

These measures were implemented within the framework of the EU project, ‘Construction of water supply and sewerage infrastructure and energy efficiency in public buildings’, implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ Moldova) in partnership with the Moldovan Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the Regional Development Agency.
