Moldova receives 180,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines through EU-funded facilities

On 17 April, the Republic of Moldova received another 48,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19, shipped through the COVAX facility. Another 132,000 doses, which were shipped from Romania, also arrived in Chisinau on Saturday.

With these deliveries, Moldova has so far received almost 300,000 vaccines through the COVAX platform, supported by Team Europe, and the Civil Protection Mechanism of the European Union.

Over 93,000 Moldovans have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and over 9,000 are fully vaccinated with two doses. Six weeks after the start of the COVID-19 immunisation campaign, the number of cases among doctors fell by 75%.
