Moldova: European Union and UNDP to support 16 civil society development projects on both banks of Nistru River

The European Union has announced that it will support 16 civil society development projects in Moldova within the Confidence Building Measures programme, funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP.

The total value of the projects is over €290,000.

The initiatives were selected through an open call for proposals, in which 90 proposals were submitted.

“The 16 small grants we are awarding will have a positive impact on around 30,000 people on both banks of the Nistru River to carry out activities related to education, sport, health, environment, and culture,” said EU Ambassador to Moldova Janis Mazeiks.

He added that the projects include communication campaigns to promote international mobility opportunities for young people, bottom-up initiatives to tackle environmental problems such as poaching on the Nistru River, activities promoting an active lifestyle for the region’s elderly population, festivals and cultural heritage promotion events.
