Moldova: EU supports lyceum renovation

On 22 September, the Ion Vatamanu lyceum in the Moldovan town of Strășeni officially opened after an energy renovation financed by the EU.

More than 650 schoolchildren will now be able to study in a more comfortable environment.

The energy efficiency improvement work included repairing the roof and insulation of the building walls, renovating the heating system, installing photovoltaic panels and installing a hot water supply system.

The total cost of the work was €1.2 million, which was provided by an EU grant.

The activities were carried out within the framework of the EU-funded project ‘Construction of water supply and sanitation infrastructure and improvement of energy efficiency in public buildings’, implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ Moldova) in partnership with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova.
