LEADER approach in Moldova: 37 local development initiatives to receive funding

A total of 37 local action groups (LAGs) in the Republic of Moldova have been selected to receive funding, including from the EU, between 2022 and 2023. Local entrepreneurs will also benefit from funding to establish and expand local businesses.

The total funding amounts up to €8,8 million and is provided from the National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Moldova.

The so-called Local Action Groups (LAGs) are territorial partnerships of local actors operating within the LEADER initiative, an EU initiative launched in Moldova in 2016 to tackle rural areas through a community-led bottom-up approach to development.

In June 2022, the programme had been transformed into a state programme covering more than half of the Moldovan territory.
