Eurostat: half of skis and snowboards imported to EU come from Ukraine


Almost half the skis and snowboards imported to the European Union from non-EU countries originated in Ukraine, according to Eurostat data, published on the occasion of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

In 2020, the EU imported 1.1 million pairs of skis and individual snowboards from non-EU countries, and exported 1.9 million of the same items to non-EU countries. 

Concerning the imports from non-EU countries, almost half of this sports equipment originated from Ukraine (529,800 items, or 48% of total extra-EU imports of skis and snowboards), followed by China (328,500, 30%).

The largest importers across the EU Member States in 2020 were Austria (1.7 million pairs of skis and individual snowboards imported), France (825,100 items) and Germany (549,200 items).
