European University Institute and International Visegrad Fund to offer scholarship for EaP countries with focus on European integration

The European University Institute (EUI) and the International Visegrad Fund invite young scholars, including from the EU’s Eastern Partnership Region, to apply for a grant programme, in order to conduct research at the Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU) at the EUI in Florence, with a focus on European integration.

All current postgraduate students (master’s and doctoral candidates) and all postdoctoral researchers or university teachers who have completed a master’s degree or doctorate within ten years preceding the application and who currently hold an academic appointment are eligible to apply.

Successful applicants will prepare a publication (thesis, dissertation, book or scholarly article) relating to European integration in any of the disciplines of human and social sciences, including law, history, political science, economics, sociology, public administration.

Up to ten postgraduate grants will be funded over the period 2021 and 2022. To the extent that travel to Florence is permitted under current pandemic measures, grant recipients will be allowed to carry out their research on-site, benefitting also from the international scholarly community of the EUI. However, the HAEU shall also offer the digitalisation of archival files needed by researchers on demand, thus ensuring operational continuity of the grant programme.

The grant programme for 2021-2022 comprises two deadlines for applications per year, one on 30 April and the other on 31 October.
