EU4Youth: alumni project hosts mindfulness event for mothers in Moldova

The EU4Youth Alumni network has hosted an event on mindfulness for mothers and how to deal with emotions – the sixth workshop in a series organised by the Mother’s Club in Chisinau, which aims to support mental health among young mothers.

The initiative aims to support the many young mothers who get overwhelmed with strong emotions during maternity, providing specialised psychological support, as well as an opportunity to get together and share each other’s experiences, needs, and fears.

The previous workshop focused on how to deal with anxiety, fears and anger, and included practical exercises to deal with strong emotions.

“These meetings are extremely important, this is the time when we gather together and discuss topics we do not dare to discuss anywhere else. Actually, we come here to heal from the pain we store up inside us for days, months, maybe even more,” said the host of the event, Cristina Burduja.

The Mother’s Club has become an important event for the local community, with increasing numbers of participants with every meeting. As the EU4Youth project comes to its end in June, the initiative is seeking support to ensure the initiative can continue.

The EU4Youth Alumni network brings together young beneficiaries of the EU4Youth, Erasmus+ Youth in Action and European Solidarity Corps programmes, and the network of Young European Ambassadors from the Eastern partner countries. The network aims to mobilise the enthusiasm and voluntary spirit generated during their participation in non-formal education mobility programmes, to support a stronger engagement of  disadvantaged young people from the partner countries, both in their community, and in EU mobility programmes.
