EU4Skills: Finland and Poland contribute €3 million to support vocational education reform in Ukraine

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Finland and Poland have signed an agreement to support the reform of vocational education and training (VET) in Ukraine. The contribution of €3 million will be used by the Programme ‘EU4Skills: Better Skills for Modern Ukraine’ to provide assistance to the Ministry of Education and Science in selected regions.

The contributions will be used to extend the reform support to the Ministry of Education and Science to two more regions and another six schools. In total, EU4Skills will cover seven focus regions, namely Chernivtsi, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Rivne, Vinnytsia and Zaporizhzhia regions, and 21 VET schools. The selected schools will serve as reference models for the reform implementation in other regions of the country.

A significant part of the programme budget will be spent on the modernisation of school infrastructure and equipment, while the rest will be focused on the development of standards and curricula, training of school managers and teachers and other measures. The aim is to provide real life examples on how education and training can be structured to help young people in gaining knowledge and skills required on the job market.

EU4Skills is a programme to support the reform of vocational education and training in Ukraine. The programme is supported by the EU and its member states, namely Germany, Finland, Poland and Estonia. The total funding for the programme is 58 million.
