EU4Energy supports Georgia in gas supply regulations

Last week, the EU4Energy Governance team at the Energy Community Secretariat and Georgian stakeholders from the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the Georgian Gas Transportation Company LLC, JSC Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation and the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) held a meeting to finalise the draft Rules for Security of Natural Gas Supply.

The main focus of the meeting was to address comments received from additional stakeholders (such as SOCAR and JSC Georgian State Electrosystem) and accordingly streamline and agree on common approaches to be reflected in the text.  Almost all open issues were discussed and settled among the stakeholders (with a few exceptions to be agreed early next week). The draft rules will be finalised next week and submitted to the Ministry, including a translated version so that the Ministry can proceed further with its regular procedures.

The EU4Energy Governance project supports government authorities in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine to improve their energy policies and institutional capacity in order to shift to the sustainable energy transition. Activities under the project cover a broad range of actions, including support in drafting legal frameworks and regulations, elaboration of guidelines, and monitoring of implementation.
