EU to help Azerbaijan strengthen sanitary and phytosanitary measures

On 10 June, an EU-Azerbaijan Twinning Project was officially launched online by the Azerbaijani Food Safety Agency (AFSA), the European Union Delegation, and Latvia and Lithuania as implementing partners from the EU member states.

The specific objective of the Twinning Project is to enhance food safety in Azerbaijan and help the country meet relevant requirements of international trade in agri-food products. It will also support the strengthening of sanitary and phytosanitary measures.

The project should also increase the institutional capacity and professional skills of the staff of the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute.

The project started in November 2020 and will run for 24 months.
