EU-funded Open Source Intelligence training for civilian security sector in Ukraine

The EU Advisory Mission (EUAM) has conducted the first webinar on open source and social media intelligence for Ukraine’s civilian security sector managers.

The workshop opens the EUAM flagship training programme ‘Leading the Change’, which reflects the growing importance of internet tools in the civilian security sector, especially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It also includes tailor-made training courses on system thinking, policy making, and digital transformation.

Last week, participants learned about the concept of OSINT (Open-source intelligence), cybersecurity and privacy protection, as well as main tools for advanced internet search (programmable search engines, aggregators), and verification of cartographic data, image and video search.

Leading the Change’ is part of EUAM’s good governance support to civilian security sector agencies. The programme focuses on public policy and innovative thinking and planning skills, and fosters the use of EU best practices in the field.
