EU: conscripting people from Crimea and Sevastopol to fight in Ukraine is particularly cynical

The EU has described as a serious violation of international humanitarian law an another conscription campaign that Russia has launched in the illegally annexed Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol on 1 April to draft residents of the peninsula in the Russian Armed Forces.

“The drafting of all eligible men, including Crimean Tatars, in the illegally annexed Crimea is particularly cynical, as they are forced to engage directly in Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine,” said a press release by the European External Action Service.

The EEAS reminded that the EU does not and will not recognise the illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol and demands Russia to immediately stop its military aggression in Ukraine.
