EU and USA coordinate further efforts to support Ukraine

On 21 April, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s Head of Cabinet Björn Seibert met in Brussels with US Deputy of State Wendy Sherman, and held a virtual meeting with US Deputy Secretary of Treasury Wally Adeyemo to further coordinate the transatlantic response to the situation in Ukraine.

In both meetings, they agreed to further coordinate efforts to support the Ukrainian people and impose severe sanctions on the Russian Federation for “Putin’s war of choice and the abhorrent attacks on civilians in Ukraine”, an EU press release said.

Both sides committed to further urge the People’s Republic of China not to circumvent or undermine sanctions against Russia or provide any form of support for Russian aggression against Ukraine.
