EU Ambassador to Moldova pays visit to Gagauzia


The Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, together with other ambassadors of several EU member states, paid a visit to Comrat, the capital of the autonomous region of Gagauzia.

The Head of the EU Delegation met with the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Gagauzia, the Head (Bashkan) of Gagauzia and the Mayor of Comrat, as well as local journalists. 

Mr. Mazeiks, accompanied by the ambassadors of Austria, Latvia, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary, took part in the International Investment Forum ‘Invest Gagauzia’. 

Afterwards he and other EU diplomats visited the Mihai Eminescu Theoretical Lyceum in Comrat. They answered questions related to granting EU candidate-country status to the Republic of Moldova. The diplomats also met young European ambassadors and informed them about the opportunities offered by the EU to young people.
