Equality and non-discrimination: EU invites practitioners from Eastern Partnership to join online peer discussions

Equality practitioners from public institutions, such as Ombudsoffices and civil society organisations, are invited to take part in a series of learning peer sessions among practitioners in the field of equality and non-discrimination. The sessions are organised by the EU-funded regional project on ‘Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech in the Eastern Partnership’, in the first six months of 2021.

The participants will discuss the models of disability in the Eastern Partnership (5 March), best practices on equality body functions and scope of mandate (24 March), liability for discrimination and their effectiveness (civil, administrative, criminal) and litigation of discrimination issues (14 April), effective ways to combat stereotypes (28 April), and support services for victims of hate speech/hate crimes (13 May).

The online meetings will be held on Zoom in English and Russian with simultaneous interpretation into both languages.

The regional project Strengthening the access to justice through non-judiciary redress mechanisms for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech’ runs from 1 February 2019 to 31 December 2021, in the framework of the Partnership for Good Governance Programme, financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe as part of the Partnership for Good Governance phase II.
