EFSE and Piraeus Bank in Ukraine to support agricultural finance market

On 28 October, the European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE) announced that it will provide a loan equivalent to €12 million in Ukrainian hryvnia to Piraeus Bank in Ukraine.

The investment will support the bank in expanding its lending to agricultural SMEs across Ukraine, contributing to business and economic recovery in the country, amid the fragile operating environment due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Piraeus Bank has recently become an ESFE partner lending institution. It is a subsidiary of the Greece-based Piraeus Bank Group S.A. and focuses on serving Ukrainian SMEs operating in the agricultural, processing, trade, and manufacturing sectors.
