Belarus: apply now for $25,000 entrepreneurship grants under EU project to support local development

On 15 February, the ‘Support to Economic Development at the Local Level in the Republic of Belarus’ project, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP in partnership with the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, launched a call for entrepreneurial initiatives in 12 Belarusian districts. Each winner will receive up to $25,000 necessary for the implementation of an entrepreneurial initiative.

The call covers 12 pilot districts in Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno, Minsk and Mogilev regions. The call is open for legal private entities and individual entrepreneurs registered in Belarus and based in the project’s pilot districts.

This contest is a unique opportunity to support small businesses in the regions, including in order to minimise the risks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, said Dirk Schuebel, Head of the European Union Delegation to Belarus. We know how difficult it is to decide to start a business, and want to support entrepreneurs, thus contributing to the sustainable development of the regions, creating jobs and providing income to the population.

The first 240 applicants will be able to receive individual remote business consultations to discuss the implementation of their business idea.

The call is open until 30 March.
