Azerbaijan: EU’s Solidarity for Health Initiative hosts webinars for health workers tackling COVID-19

The Solidarity for Health Initiative project funded by the European Union and implemented by the WHO Country Office in Azerbaijan has conducted two online webinars on the medical and psychological aspects of caring for patients with coronavirus.

The first took place on 9 January. During this webinar – “Anaphylaxis shock treatment and advanced life support for adults in the context of COVID-19” – experts from the Ege University Medical Faculty (Turkey), Dr Kubilay Demiragh and Dr Mehmet Uyar, shared the latest developments in the field with more than 200 Azerbaijani colleagues.

The second webinar on “Communicating with patients and people about COVID-19” was presented by Dr. Hande Harmanci, WHO Representative in Azerbaijan, and Olha Izhyk, expert of the WHO Regional Office for Europe. The event, which was held on 11 January, hosted more than 150 health care professionals.

Both webinars were jointly organised by the WHO Country Office in Azerbaijan and the State Health Agency (TABIB).

The Solidarity for Health Initiative initiative is part of a common European response to the outbreak of COVID-19. It supports the Eastern partner countries in their fight against the virus and helps them to address better the needs of the most vulnerable people.
