Armenia: EU-supported solar plant officially opened in Partizak

On 25 November, the Solis power plant, built with EU support, was officially opened in Partizak, Armenia. The new solar plant is expected to generate enough power to sustain 2,000 Armenian households every year while also decreasing CO2 emissions by as much as 3,200 tons per year.

The Solis power plant is the first project financed by the EU-Armenia SME Equity Fund managed by Amber Capital. So far, the Fund has attracted US$50 million for investment and acceleration of Armenian businesses.

“The Solis plant showcases the potential in the renewables sector and the potential for sustainable finance and investments in Armenia. The EU is committed to supporting the country and its private sector on the path to green recovery,” EU Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin said at the launch event.
