Armenia: EU ambassador visits Gyumri


On 26 October, the EU ambassador to Armenia, Andrea Wiktorin, visited Gyumri, the administrative centre of Shirak Province in northwestern Armenia. 

The Ambassador met with the Governor of the Shirak region, Nazeli Baghdasarian, to discuss EU support in the region. Andrea Wiktorin stressed the importance of having women leaders in influential positions and met with the families of prisoners of war, expressing her full support to them.

Among other topics, the Ambassador touched upon Gyumri’s vision for tourism and local economic development under the regional M4EG fund, as well as other ongoing activities such as lighting in the streets of Gyumri and support for small and medium-sized businesses.

The ambassador was also hosted by the ‘Agate Rights Defence Centre For Women With Disabilities’ NGO, implementing EU-funded projects.
