30 Georgians win Erasmus+ scholarships to study master’s degrees at European Universities in 2021


A total of 30 Georgians were among the 2,756 winners of the 2021 Erasmus+ scholarships сall, supported by the EU. They will join scholars from all over the world to study at joint master’s degree programmes at universities in the European Union and worldwide.

In total, 120 applications were submitted from Georgia in 2021, among 12,271 applications from 167 countries. There were a further 593 candidates from other Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine), with 124 applications being successful.

The students from Georgia – 20 women and 10 men – are from different universities in Tbilisi: Tbilisi State University, Free University of Tbilisi, Ilia State University, GIPA, Caucasus University, Sokhumi State University and Tbilisi State Academy of Arts.

They will start Erasmus Mundus Joint master’s degrees (EMJMDs) this autumn at leading European universities. They will study courses in South European Studies, Wine Tourism Innovation, Quaternary and Prehistory, Global Markets, Local Creativities, Women’s and Gender Studies, European Politics and Society, Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling, Central and East European, Russian and Eurasian Studies, Analytical Chemistry, Embedded Computing Systems, Transition, Innovation and Sustainability Environments, Work, Organisational and Personnel Psychology, International Humanitarian Action, International Law of Global Security, Peace and Development,  Public Policy, Contemporary German and French philosophy, Research and Innovation in Higher Education, Human Rights Policy and Practice, Animation, and Archaeological Materials Science.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees are unique master courses developed by a consortium of a minimum of two European universities, which provide grants that fully cover the study programme, travel cost, insurance, visa support, and scholarship of  €1,000 per month. In addition to their main curricula, students will be enrolled in language courses, learn about the countries of their stay, and discover and enjoy new culture with fellow students from around the world.
