Looking beyond 2020: Advancing women, peace and security in Eastern Partnership countries – Consultations with civil society organisations

This outcome document of the ‘Looking beyond 2020: Advancing women, peace and security’ consultations outlines the perspectives and actionable recommendations of civil society organizations to build a platform for action on gender-sensitive peace-building and resilience across Eastern Partnership countries.

The consultations were organised by the UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia and the UN Women Country Office in Georgia, drawing together 41 women’s organizations, peace-builders and activists from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. They provided a timely and direct account of the multidimensional risks experienced by women and girls during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a focus on the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda. This document presents the solutions they proposed to remove barriers to women’s meaningful participation in peace processes at the formal and informal levels.
