Baseline study report in Ukraine of EUnlocking project

This baseline study report presents the results of research on the state of the social entrepreneurship in Ukraine.

It consists of the following areas:

1. The activities of social enterprises are regulated by a relatively large number of legislative acts in Ukraine, but most of them receive financial support from donors.

2. The main problems of the social entrepreneurs and potential solutions are identified. Experts in the field of social entrepreneurship (representatives of public organizations, charitable foundations and social enterprises) expressed their opinions on the topic.

The team of experts concluded that the two biggest problems in the field of social entrepreneurship in Ukraine are the lack of access to finance and the lack of awareness, knowledge and specific skills of young people. The experts had concluded from the research – despite all the problems, the potential for the development of social entrepreneurship in Ukraine is vast, but proper assistance in this process is in great demand.

This baseline study report in Ukraine (in English and Ukrainian) has been prepared for the Project “EU4Youth – Unlocking the potential of young social entrepreneurs in Moldova and Ukraine” (EUnlocking project) with financial support from the European Union under its EU4Youth Programme.

The EUnlocking project helps to foster the social entrepreneurial potential of young people in Moldova and Ukraine by establishing a favourable ecosystem for social enterprises as well as by inspiring and supporting more young social entrepreneurs to develop and sustain their innovative solutions to the promotion of social inclusion and environmental sustainability across both countries.
