Regional competition for journalists, vloggers, and bloggers in Moldova and Ukraine


The “EU4Youth – Unlocking the potential of young social entrepreneurs in Moldova and Ukraine” (EUnlocking) project has announced a regional contest for journalists, vloggers and bloggers in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

The theme of the competition is ‘Social entrepreneurship – cooperation beyond borders’.

Do you know interesting social entrepreneur(s) in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine who strengthen cooperation between the two countries and/or with another EU country, as well as brings positive impacts to their community and/or the environment? Help people get to know them. Participate in this competition to introduce your heroes to the public and win a cash prize!

What can I submit?

●             Anything which is worth sharing with others: you can submit an article, footage, blogpost, podcast, vlog, video, talk-shows or any multimedia content centred on the story of entrepreneurs who collaborate across the two countries and/or with other EU countries to create positive differences for the environment and their communities, especially for the disadvantaged.

●             Each contestant can submit maximum 2 own works.

●             Materials (entries) must be originally published/broadcasted/posted between 1 October and 30 November 2021.

●             Priority themes are (1) partnerships among social entrepreneurs in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine and/or with other EU country(ies), (2) youth with social entrepreneurship, (3) workplaces for disadvantaged youth/people, (4) ecology and environmental sustainability, and (5) how social entrepreneurship contributes to the regional economy (Eastern Europe).

Languages of the entries: Romanian, Ukrainian, Russian, English

The deadline for submitting applications is 30 November 2021.

Prizes

There are a total of 9 prizes including:

Category 1: Video

The 3 best materials will benefit from cash prizes, as follows:

first place: €700

second place: €400

third place: €200

Category 2: Audio/Podcasts

The 3 best materials will benefit from cash prizes, as follows:

first place: €700

second place: €400

third place: €200

Category 3: Writing

The 3 best materials will benefit from cash prizes, as follows:

first place: €700

second place: €400

third place: €200

* For winners residing in the Republic of Moldova, all the prizes include income tax in the amount of 12% to be withheld.

* For winners residing in Ukraine, all the prizes include income tax in the amount of 19.5% to be withheld.

Who can apply

Journalists, bloggers, and everyone who reside in the Republic of Moldova or Ukraine and publish their work in any Moldovan and Ukrainian media, including television, online and print media, vlogs and blogs.

On 15 October 2021, 15:00 – 16:30 (local time), the EUnlocking project will organise a virtual Information Session for interested persons.

The EUnlocking project helps to foster the social entrepreneurial potential of young people in Moldova and Ukraine by establishing a favourable ecosystem for social enterprises, as well as by inspiring and supporting more young social entrepreneurs to develop and sustain their innovative solutions to the promotion of social inclusion and environmental sustainability across both countries. The project is funded by the European Union under its EU4Youth Programme.
