Practical booklet for Ukrainian children and EU teachers – with visuals, in all EU languages

The European Union has published a visual booklet in all EU languages to  help overcome communication barriers with Ukrainian children, designed for classrooms hosting refugees across Europe.

The illustrated bilingual booklet is available in combination between Ukrainian and all EU languages. It shows simple phrases and words in Ukrainian and the relevant EU language, accompanied by images.

The UN estimates that more than 5.7 million refugees have fled Ukraine, around half of them children. Under the EU’s Temporary Protection Directive, all children arriving in the EU should have swift access to their rights, without discrimination, including the necessary psychological support, healthcare and access to education.

The EU’s School Education Gateway has published a page of articles and resources to support the integration of young Ukrainian refugees into the education systems of EU Member States and Erasmus+ countries.
