New agricultural platforms opened in Azerbaijan to help farmers in Guba-Khachmaz region

A new Agrarian Advisory Platform for plum farmers has been established in the Guba-Khachmaz region of Azerbaijan as part of the EU-funded UN FAO project ‘Strengthening Agrarian Advisory Services’.

Given the role of plums in the region’s agricultural economy, the platform has started work in the Zardabi community of Guba district. The meeting of plum orchard owners was also attended by women farmers who said they expected a lot of support from the platform for family farms.

Earlier, experts provided by the project advised farmers who joined the Agrarian Consultation Platforms for cherry and apple tree growers in Hajialibai village, Khachmaz district, and Alekseevka village, in the Guba district. They received advice on tree pruning and the use of fertilisers.
