Moldova: EU to help build modern regional hospital in Cahul
The European Union will help the Republic of Moldova build a new regional hospital in the city of Cahul, a regional centre in southern Moldova.
On 4 July, the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced that the Eastern Partnership Technical Assistance Trust Fund (EPTATF), managed by the EIB, and Swedfund are jointly providing €1.5 million to prepare the feasibility studies for the construction of the hospital.
This will expand the range of medical services available locally in Cahul to more than 120,000 people living in the south of Moldova, including treatment for cancer patients such as chemotherapy.
A new regional hospital will make the country more resilient to major crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
