Moldova: EU Ambassador visits Cagul to highlight EU-funded projects

EU Ambassador to Moldova Peter Michalko has visited the Cahul region and its neighbouring localities to meet and discuss with local authorities, representatives of CSOs and Local Action Groups and beneficiaries of EU-financed projects. The EU support to the region totals more than €30 million, with projects that focus on local development, social services, SMEs, and infrastructure.

The visit started with a meeting with the Mayor of Cahul who expressed openness for the creation with EU support of a local Transparency and Anti-corruption Council, which would monitor the utilisation of local resources.

During the visit, the Ambassador also attended the EU Talks event organised at Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu State University, which is hosting one of the two EU Information Centres in the city.

The visit also included Grigore Vieru Park and Prichindel Kindergarten. Both objects are renovated with EU support delivered via the EU4Moldova: Focal regions – Cahul project.
