From COVID-19 to IDPs: 3D project in Ukraine transforms its activities

The Ukrainian ‘3D Project: Development Despite Disruption. Resilient civil society at a time of COVID-19 and beyond’, implemented by the East Europe Foundation with EU support, has promptly transformed its activities with the outbreak of war.

As support for temporarily displaced persons (IDPs) became one of the priorities with the outbreak of war, the project started to support civil society organisations that provide primary assistance to IDPs in five Ukrainian cities: Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, Rivne, Lviv, and Mykolaiv.

In particular, the project has helped an initiative that provides medical and psychological support at the Lviv railway station: 600 volunteers help IDPs arriving in the city. Internally displaced persons receive psychological support, necessary medical care, and information and logistical support.

However, the volunteers themselves also need support. The project supports them with mentorship from doctors and psychologists and specific skills for working with large groups of people affected by war.
