EU4Environment: demonstration training on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production for 15 Belarusian enterprises

On 19 and 21 January, 15 Belarusian companies benefited from an intensive training, organised by the National Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) Centre in Belarus, as a part of the EU4Environment project on ‘Circular Economy and New Growth Opportunities’, funded by European Union.

The RECP Centre works actively to raise awareness on resource efficiency and cleaner production. Following a series of informational events, the centre received applications from enterprises interested in having their production and environmental activities evaluated using the UNIDO RECP methodology. The enterprises selected to participate in the project mainly work in the machine-building, food, and construction industries, as well as in the publishing and textiles manufacturing sectors.

Working groups of experts in environmental protection, rational use of resources, materials and technologies, energy efficiency, and waste management, were set up at the demonstration plants, collecting data, which will help to identify the most energy and resource-intensive processes they use, as well as sources of losses in managing resources.

The RECP Centre’s experts will also coach a group of trainees from the ‘Svetopribor’ electrical products manufacturer, in the main RECP techniques, focused on curtailing the use of materials, energy and water, while minimising waste and greenhouse gas emissions.
