EU provides Ukrainian police with special uniforms for public events

The EU has provided the National Police of Ukraine (NPU) with more than 1,000 special uniforms for officers ensuring public order during public events.

These uniforms, combined with previously supplied personal protective equipment, form the gear that Ukrainian police officers wear during public events.

The handover was planned before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as part of the ‘Public Order’ support package of the PRAVO Police Programme which is implemented by UNOPS, in close cooperation with the EU Advisory Mission Ukraine.

As part of the programme, up to 500 Ukrainian police officers from different regions of Ukraine have received intensive training on the European approach to public order. It is based on facilitation and de-escalation during mass events such as demonstrations or sports competitions.
