On 17 May, President of the European Council Charles Michel expressed firm solidarity to the President of the Republic of Moldova during her visit to Brussels.
“Our support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity for your country remains unwavering,” Michel wrote on Twitter. “We’ll step-up our support to strengthen Moldova’s resilience and for hosting refugees from Ukraine with open arms.”
For her part, Maia Sandu said Moldova was ready to continue working hard to change the country, “making it part of the European family”.
“We’re committed to transforming our country, but we need the EU’s help on this path,” she said on Twitter.
