During his visit to Turkey, EU High Representative Josep Borrell met today with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in Antalya.

A historic and symbolic moment,” wrote Borrell on Twitter. “Discussed regional security challenges and reiterated EU’s resolve to provide expertise and help to de-escalate the situation.”

In his efforts to ease tensions between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Borrell also met in Turkey with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

During both meetings, Borrell also touched on Russia’s war against Ukraine and its regional implications. He welcomed Azerbaijan’s provision of humanitarian aid to Ukraine and readiness to expand gas deliveries to Moldova and south east Europe.
