Azerbaijan: new platforms for agricultural advisory services

Special platforms are being tested in two regions in Azerbaijan to improve the accessibility of agricultural advisory services for small and medium-sized farmers. The platforms were created with EU support under a project on strengthening agricultural advisory services implemented by the FAO.

Six commodity-based advisory platforms have been set up in Ganja-Gazakh and Guba-Khachmaz regions, focusing on tomatoes, sunflower, sorghum, apples and cherries.

With specially-trained expert facilitators, the platforms guide the farmers through a diagnostic process to identify problems with their crops, discuss and find solutions within the group, and through networking with private and public sector advisors and researchers.
