Azerbaijan: EU-funded Solidarity for Health Initiative presents its results

The EU-funded Solidarity for Health Initiative, implemented jointly with the World Health Organisation (WHO) since 2020, has presented its results achieved in Azerbaijan during the project period. The initiative aims to help build sustainable capacity to respond to possible pandemics in the future.

A total of 521 pieces of medical equipment, including six ventilators and breathing machines BiPAP, 81 patient monitors, 141 oxygen concentrators and 229 pulse oximeters, were delivered to health facilities across the country.

At the same time, more than one million items of personal protective equipment and 17,600 hand hygiene items were delivered to ensure the safety of frontline COVID-19 responders.

Various trainings were also organised to strengthen the COVID-19 response capacity. The number of course registrations made by Azerbaijani health workers on the OpenWHO online training platform increased tenfold to 18,000.
