Almost 3 million vaccine doses delivered to Ukraine

Ukraine on Sunday received close to 3 million free doses of the Moderna vaccine under the COVAX initiative supported by the EU.

The 2,930,300 doses of vaccine were delivered by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Ukraine has now received 7,415,810 doses of vaccine from various manufacturers under COVAX.

COVAX is a global solidarity initiative to boost the development and production of COVID-19 vaccines and assure their equal distribution around the world.

As well as supporting the COVAX initiative, the EU has provided support to accelerate COVID vaccination as well as technical support for Ukraine to fight the pandemic.

Since last year, the EU and the World Health Organization have supported the Ukrainian government’s COVID-19 response and vaccination roll-out. Also, with the support of the EU, a number of technical workshops on COVID-19 vaccination were organised by WHO and the Ministry of Health.
