What is the difference between my school and the EaP European School?

These are the two big differences, the course itself with its focus on European affairs, and the unique multinational learning experience provided by the EaP European School.

The two-year International Baccalaureate (IB) programme is built around Europe and European issues, with courses in human sciences, languages and literature, arts and history all complemented by a distinct European perspective.

The International Baccalaureate is also a different way of learning with a focus on teaching students to think critically and independently, and how to inquire with care and logic.

At the same time, you’ll find yourself immersed in a unique international learning environment, learning and living with students from different cultures. Outside classes you will have an opportunity to attend EU-related conferences and events.

All in all, the EaP European School offers a top-class educational opportunity that will uniquely prepare you to face the challenges of the modern, globalised world. And you will leave the school with an international qualification in your pocket, the IB Diploma.

Can I study at the Eastern Partnership European School in Georgia?

Yes, if you are aged 16-17 and a citizen and resident of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, or Ukraine. Ukrainian and Belarusian students who have relocated outside the country are also eligible, if they have left the country after 1 February 2022 for Ukrainians and August 2020 for Belarusians.

However, the number of places is limited – only up to 20 per year – so you have to meet certain conditions and pass through a competitive process in order to apply.

Criteria for applications include being enrolled at secondary school in one of the six countries, in grade 10 for Belarus and Georgia and 9-10 for the rest of the countries, with a minimum 70% of grade point average over the previous and current year of secondary school studies. You will also need to demonstrate English language ability – minimum B2 Level and higher.

How do I apply?

The application process for the academic year 2023/2024 unfolds in three stages:

  1. Submission of the application on the school website (eapeuropeanschool.eu), between 16 December 2022 and 16 March 2023.
  2. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to sit two written tests, in maths and English. The tests will be carried out in English, via an online platform.
  3. Based on the written test results, candidates will then be invited to a Zoom interview.

Selection is carried out by a qualified panel, using objective and transparent scoring methods. During the interviews, the Selection Panel will give high consideration to the motivation of students, their openness to other cultures and interest in European affairs.

The application process is free of charge.

Do I need to pay something to enroll at the school?

No. If you are selected, you will receive a full scholarship for the two-year cycle, paid for by the European Union. The scholarship covers your fees, plus boarding and meals at the school’s facilities, travel home from Tbilisi during two school breaks each year, all the necessary study materials and resources (including books, laptops and smartphones for the duration of the studies), as well as full medical insurance. So if you are accepted at the EaP European School, it will cost you nothing for the full two years – and your scholarship will automatically be extended to the second year, as long, of course, as you pass the first year!

What are the benefits of the IB diploma?

If you want to study abroad the International Baccalaureate is a passport for success. The IB Diploma is accepted in 75 countries at over 2,000 universities, and is widely recognised by colleges and universities around the world as superior preparation for students to succeed in higher education.

Each university will have its own recognition policies. These can range from actively recruiting IB students, to explicitly recognising the IB Diploma in the admissions process, or even counting Diploma scores for course credits or providing scholarship opportunities specifically for IB students.

Will this IB Diploma be recognised by universities in my country?

The IB Diploma is fully recognised in Georgia and accepted in Armenia, IB schools are also accredited in Azerbaijan and Ukraine, with a number of universities in the region having established official policies to admit IB students to their courses.

In any case, all students completing the Scholarship Programme at the EaP European School can submit their diplomas to the national authorities in their home country to receive the official equivalence.

Where can I learn more about the school?

You can visit the school’s website www.eapeuropeanschool.eu, where you will find detailed information about the programme and admissions procedure. For more information about the International Baccalaureate, visit the International Baccalaureate website www.ibo.org, which includes information about university admissions for IB students.

But if you want to be inspired, let the students from all six countries guide you through their experience and achievements at the school, and discover the opportunities they have gained as a result.
