Soon after the recent major escalation of Karabakh conflict in 2020, local and international organisations started to focus more on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) to the affected population as well as to improve the national MHPSS capacity. In the aftermath of the 44 days’ war, WHO Country Office in Azerbaijan started several activities to address population needs in mental health and psychosocial support. As a continuation of the WHO Azerbaijan MHPSS projects, with the support of EU-ECHO funding, has initiated the Coordination and Transformation of Mental Health Services in Post- conflict Settings project.

• Establishment of a multidisciplinary coordination mechanism for MHPSS in liaison with the protection and education sectors, with membership comprised of respective national authorities, health and other sectors partners and service providers;
• Building capacity and systems in at least 20% of primary health care (PHC) facilities in the designated areas to provide care for people with prioritized mental health conditions;
• Establishment of multidisciplinary MHPSS teams.

• Strengthened governance, coordination and leadership of mental health services and psychosocial supports for conflict-affected population in Azerbaijan;
• Scaled-up access to evidence and community-based mental health services and psychosocial support in and Azerbaijan;
• Increased utilization of MHPSS services by local communities through enhanced awareness.
