Industry: Food, catering and restaurant (also social canteen)

Sergiu Gurău

I am the founder of the social enterprise which has been operating since 2013, and in addition to the goal of generating economic profit, we have set out to demonstrate that businesses can also create social profits in Moldova. The social goals of our business include: creating and maintaining jobs for young people with disabilities in rural regions, providing the social canteen service, and on-the-job training for young people from disadvantaged categories.

I was a participant in the Revolution of Dignity in 2014, and an Anti-Terrorism Operation volunteer. The Prava Kava mixes the aroma of coffee with a taste of Euromaidan freedoms. Soldiers defending the country in the east will find comfort and support here. You can pay for a coffee to be given to a soldier tired of the front, or donate the price of the cup to the needs of volunteers. Here you will exclusively hear Ukrainian-speaking baristas, and enjoy an exhibition of paintings by Chernihiv artist Taras Stepanushko, who depicts soldiers from the city using the stories of their lives as inspiration....

I consider social entrepreneurship to be the most effective way of doing business. I offer 1) a new, high quality service, 2) create jobs on the market, and 3) try to minimise the environmental impact of the company’s activities, showing both colleagues and customers that this is possible, fashionable and important.

I am an entrepreneur and a marketing and business consultant for startups. I encourage entrepreneurs to be socially involved by donating 10% of my own company’s income, as well as by promoting projects that support social entrepreneurship. I am currently promoting OPEN GATE KITCHEN (OGK) – a catering project run by a team of over 10 people and dedicated to delivering healthy meals to companies. The initiative creates socially inclusive opportunities by providing culinary courses and supplying jobs for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. OGK delivers good food for busy teams at their...

My name is Anna, and I’m the head of “Master Dreams” Studio. Unfortunately, there are many social problems in our country. Still, I try to solve two of them – I contribute a part of my profit to young people with mental disabilities, who are seen as a low priority by government agencies and make jars from recycled glass for my tea shop. Visitors to the studio (11 for now) learn everyday skills, engage in creativity, go on excursions and hold their events together with assistants and volunteers. And, of course, they make tea. The sales allow us to be independent from sponsors...

In 2012, the Eco-Razeni NGO founded the first catering social enterprise in the Republic of Moldova – SIE Floare de cireş SRL, which offers training and employment for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, mainly with disabilities, from rural areas. More than 100 young women and men are already part of our success story. Moreover, the social enterprise supports 36 poor elderly people living alone in Razeni, delivering warm meals to their homes three times a week. Between 2013 and 2020, more than 220 beneficiaries of the social canteen received 30,000 warm meals free of charge.
